What's in a Name?

Image
We all know Double "O" Seven, don’t we...well, if you don’t....stay comatose, this world is not for your highness. The famous spy has been swandering his way into the hearts of five generations of people all over the globe. That’s lots and lots of people! Yet, every time....every Fleming time.....he needs to introduce himself..each time he appears on the screen in each movie; a happening occurring religiously the past sixty years of his presence on the silver screen. And I thought, people would remember me after one interaction!....the fallacy of the very thought! What I learnt is that, however suave, posh, smooth, fluid and skillful you may be......you need the perfect first impression to nail the deal...and what better way.....than to announce your very arrival! Bond, the sleek slick that he is, knows and knows well.....it is important to make an impact the first time....and the name is just not an identity, but a brand..a uniqueness that sticks only with you!

Leadership Lessons from Padmaavat

So at last, Mr Bansali, could overcome the din created by the free will of some of our worthy countrymen. Who while remaining in the fringes, manage to capture the limelight thanks to the potency of hate and the medium which fans it- Media. Getting it to the screens, must have been no mean effort, but then SLB is no minion when it comes to courting controversies. The consequences of a PR initiative to contest such social mischief makes good business sense!..and lo and behold!!...it’s the Media playing Merlin which propels him to yet another blockbuster!..Yay fourth estate!! I watched Padmaavat. Accompanied with a houseful audience. Sitting there I made a note to myself...."the road to success are many, but the surest one is the one created by the one who doesnt want you to get to your destination"! The Karni Sena just did that for Bansali over a weekend. Leadership Lesson #1 : Do not disregard your staunch disbelievers, in their protest...lies your opportunity.

Why Does Leadership Matter?

Go back to those classes in Physics at school. That thing called ‘Matter’. They taught you about it right? Those insipid  text books defined it as “Matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume”. Well, as drab as that sounded then, it still does now, for come on, why would I want to know why anything occupies space and has a mass? Did it matter?.....What?....what did I just say?.....Did it “matter” ?? Now, I don’t want to wander into a class on grammar and duel with the concepts of a verb and noun. But, I can’t fail to notice the astonishing linguistic functionality and the inherent neurological strength that this word possesses. For, come to think of it, we all do (or rather love to do) only things that ‘Matter’ to us! I like to exercise in the morning because it matters to me that I stay in shape. If it didn’t matter, I would have procrastinated and shoved it down the ‘to do’ that I keep (but do not act upon). Getting the drift? We only
There is no Beginning to a Transformation There is actually no beginning, nor an end..... to anything. It is existance that is visible and experienced. And that resides in the present...the 'now'. Infact, by the time you have read this sentence, the beginning of this blog has lapsed into your past. And now that you re read it, it is a re visit, so technically, no longer a beginning!! Hope you got the curved ball I literally threw at you! There is no past or future in the real world. They are just thoughts projected as images and a voice in our heads, which keep repeating themselves in incessent loops, influencing our very behaviours and manifesting as our 'personalities'. We spend so much time in our recollected past and percieved future, that we do not grasp the value of our immediate present. This is a fleeting moment, a diaphanous entity, constantly vanisihing into oblivion if we do not mark a mental marker to it. And that is what nature has bestowed us with, th
ranjeev@leadership-tribe.com The Genesis    When Krishna and I met that fateful day on 14 Sep 17, we had a shared dream and a white hot desire, a desire to explore and enrich our lives. We so wanted to go transcending the obviousness of human tranquility, that we decided to project our vision beyond the visible horizon. We agreed to partner as empowered professionals, sharing our learnings and re creating our experiences into a potent reservoir of knowledge. Our Singular Goal : To Touch, Move and Inspire whosoever we have the privilege of interacting with, in the personal and professional sphere of life. In fact, we synchronised our aspirations to merge our professional and personal beings into a single energetic orb of radiant hopefuleness. To set forth on a journey of sharing, learning and gratitude. We knew that knowledge is best served unbiased undiluted and unfiltered. And that is what we both have been good at, in our respective zones of interest. And now it was time to exte
